NOW LOOKING FOR FALL SEMESTER INTERNS:

 

We are looking for 3 part-time or full-time student who are committed to any of the following: internationalism, education, foreign languages, marketing, business, event planning, or non-profit management. Knowledge of languages and cultures would be useful. The intern would be free to work in coordination with the Executive Director to tailor both the content and the logistics of the internship to her or his individual needs and interests. Internships are non-paid and require a commitment of ten to fifteen hours per week. Interns are welcome to attend SCL events charge, and are given one-year memberships following the successful completion of the internship.

 

All interns are required to help the Executive Director with daily administrative tasks.These include: answering the telephone; receiving and sending out mailings and faxes; and updating files. Current admin needs are updating the database & Constant Contact emails.

 

Possible Intern Areas of Focus:

 

Committee Liaison:

Working with any one of our Sister City Committees to help organize and implement special programs.Responsibilities include coordination of invitations and responses, maintenance of event information, and set-up and execution of events. This internship requires excellent communication and organizational skills with little supervision. A commitment of 10-15 hours per week is required.

 

Development/Fundraising: 

maintaining membership database; researching grants, foundations and individual donors; and participating in seasonal development activities. This position will also help with the planning and coordination of Member Receptions (Spring & Summer Bash). Basic Administrative Duties assigned to this position are: filing of thank you letters, copying, and mailings. The intern should be detail oriented, have basic computer knowledge and be interested in fundraising and non-profit management.

 

Education:

helps classroom teachers implement international studies in their classrooms. Intern duties include updating, maintaining, and researching new materials for classroom Culture Kits. The intern is encouraged to market the SCL's Culture Kits (representing each of our sister cities) to primary and secondary schools. The intern is also responsible for developing pen-pal connections between secondary schools students.

 

Design/Multimedia:

Assists in the design and production of the SCL's print materials and website. The intern will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director with the e-newsletter, maintaining and updating the web. Interns should be creative, have good visual sensibilities and be detail oriented.
